Project Information

This little culprit is really what makes it just too darn easy for me to spend too much time on Lumberjocks.

I took some rather heavy duty swivel hardware off of an old computer monitor stand i had and put it to use in this laptop stand. The base section of the stand is fairly heavy and fits nicely under my chair. Then i have my laptop velcroed to the swivel arm that i can swing around it front of me (just clearing the arm of my chair by a smidgen), or at the touch of a finger push out of my way. When i want to relocate i just tug a little and the laptop comes off.

I tell ya its almost TOO easy! All of it is salvaged Pine (what else) and finished with a satin lacquer. (Thos taught me how to spell lacquer) :)

Very nice! As someone who sits in front of a laptop for better than 12 hours a day, I can appreciate a convenient way to get the thing OUT of the way when necessary.

Great idea, Miles! You've got me thinking about making one of these sized for surfing in bed while my wife flips channels on the TV endlessly.

Nice, Miles! I'll bet you could sell lots of these if you wanted to. Lot's of people would find them very useful. And, you did such a nice job of designing it, that it looks attractive too.

Thanks all for the compliments!
Here ya go Zuki…Not sure what exactly you would call this swivel. It has like a 5/8" dia steel rod that pivots in this apparatus. I'm sure theres something out there less hefty that would do a sufficient job.
