Nice. Curious about how you tightened the webbing… Thanx

To tighten the webbing, my dad and I (this was one of those two man jobs) screwed all the short pieces of webbing on one side. As you might notice, the webbing is stuck between two pieces of wood and there are screws going through each piece of webbing. On the other side, one person would use pliers to grab the webbing, pull it as tight as possible, and then use the underside of the bench to rest the pliers and use a rolling motion to pull it even tighter. Once it was as tight as we could get it, the other person would put another screw through the webbing.

For the long pieces of webbing, I think we used good old two arm power with pliers and the other person put a screw once tight. The long pieces didn't need to be super tight since adding all of them after the short ones made the short ones even tighter (because we were slightly spreading them apart).

If this isn't very clear, let me know, I'll try to explain it better.

Haha.. Yeah the Brute-Force method.. been there….. No was curious as I was thinking of making a shoe rack for my sister's place. Saw yours and thought of my young niece and thought the webbed bench top was I interesting idea. I have 150 yards of 1" webbing…. As it was cheaper to buy 150 yards spool then the 10 yards for the straps I was making by the foot.

That's one cool and sturdy bench. Like the beautiful wood, finish and the webbing. It's an heirloom piece for sure. Great job!
