Project Information

This is another project I made a few years ago after buying a new flat screen TV. The old style entertainment armoires don't work for these new TVs and I wanted something a bit more sleek and contemporary to match my changing tastes. It is made of maple veneered plywood and solid cherry for contrast. The doors are solid maple.

I finished the back so it is as nice as the front. That allows me to set the credenza in the middle of a room and still have it look good. It is something you don't find on factory furniture because most people don't want to pay for that kind of feature.

One of the photos shows the shelf hangers I used to attach the credenza top - a nice little trick I learned from one of my many woodworking magazines.

I have a lot more photos and I will upload some of them below because the initial post only allows for 6 photos.

Wonderful cabinet. Great sleek and classic design and color contrast. I will be using this for inspiration for the one I need to build. Oddly, your old one is very similar to my old one. You should be proud of yourself.

Thanks guys.

OldRick, one of my design goals was to get all my CD collection into the cabinet. I designed the drawers so they are deep enough to hold the CD cases on end so I can read the label on the back edge of the case and each drawer will hold 8 rows of CDs with a little wiggle room to get them in and out. It turns out that the drawers are also deep enough to hold DVD cases on end as well. I used full extension ball bearing slides because rated at 100 lb each because those CDs are heavy!

It is more beautiful, has a modern look and lots of storage. Like the wood combo and finish. Great work!
