Project Information

This is an English walnut rocking chair I recently completed for Kyle. It took a week to figure out how I was going to use the wood and then a week taking the wood apart and putting it back together to get the boards I wanted then two weeks to complete the chair. It was a lot of fun.

When I saw this Rocker I knew it was you that built it before I even saw who posted it. I am back down in Florida moving my shop and equipment. I have a 7'X16' POD all loaded up ready to go unfortunately its not everything I still have ONE more trip to make up to Locust Grove. Can't wait to start back on the chair I am building from your plans and DVD. AGAIN, GOOD STUFF

Nice that the tenons don't quite, yet comfortably fit the mortises.(#4) How relaxed.

With just any wood, this would be beautiful. With the piece of English walnut you used, it's exceptional. Bravo, maestro!

Beautiful job. Where can I buy your plans? Any leeds on where I can get some of that walnut? I have a flintlock project I'm starting and it would make a beautiful stock.

Exquisite use of this wood's color and grain. When is a chair not just a chair? When it is in your hands. Very nicely done.

You were clearly able to do a great job showing off the wood. I really like pic #3. It shows the attention to detail in the design as the curves of the seat and arm play together so well.

Wow, how did I miss this… I have seen many rockers in this style made from walnut, but embracing the sapwood in this way is striking. Nicely done.
