Project Information

A simple project that ended up in a nice product. I found the residual log/cant at a "cemetery" of a sawmill. It had been on the weather for years, picture 2 shows the source. After that is was just a few cuts with the chainsaw and then…....lots of sanding. I could not believe how hard was to get these pieces to 220 grid finish. The specie is Angelim Vermelho (Dinizia excelsa) and is known to be hard, but it was really hard, i think that been so dry contributed to its hardness.
Finished with a mix of bee wax, mineral oil and copaiba oil.

Those are super cool. I've turned a hollow form from a small piece that was rotted out like this but this is awesome.

Those really are cool, but I'm still trying to figure out where you find square trees? :>/

Thanks for all your kind comments, they are great incentives to keep having fun with woodworking. By the way there are still many if those square the trees at the sawmill

Great job! Simple and rustic, yet very modern and stylish. These would look good in a log cabin or a modern penthouse. Thanks for sharing.
