Live oak crotch vase with epoxy reinforcement this piece was salvaged from an older tree downed by hurricane Michael. The blank was allowed to spalt on my shop floor for 1 year before turning. It ended up 5" wide by 10" tall.
Hairy, this is the last time I do something this large end grain or otherwise…just too deep for an old dude to wrestle. I had the blank and thought it would be a waste to not get as much out of it as possible….never again ! It is more the size of a small bucket than a vase ! limits should be followed. This was too much work for a 75+ year old dude. Hope you are well and happy.

Just always remember (in politics too) that :
To Mr. Malvern, the vase does contain some spalting. Maybe as much as ten %....The wild figure, color, and patterning is natural, and due to the fact that this is a live oak crotch, turned end grain. This is the largest of three turned in this fashion. Thanks, Don S. Havana Florida.
