The end grain timber on this butchers block is oak and the frame Scandinavian pine. The end grain can take enormous punishment from chopping and cutting tools as well as red hot pans etc without any detrimental effects on the structure or appearance. Dimensions are 4' * 2' but I have made them in all sorts of sizes.
