Project Information

Dimensions: 40"L x 15"W x 36"H

Materials: Wenge, Sepele & Cherry Wood

The Elegant Hall Table features solid Sepele panels whose grain seems almost holographic when viewed from different angels. The panels are encased by solid cherry panel caps and solid cherry legs. The table top is framed by a mitered Wenge frame which has been splined at all corners to ensure the strength and stability of the table far into the future. The entire piece features smooth elegant lines which provide for an intriguing and inviting piece.

No stains or dies were used in the finishing of this piece and all colors seen are the natural colors of the wood.

What a beautiful hall table! I love the combination of species you used!

The only concern I have is the frame around the tabletop-how did you account for wood movement?

Very nice. I like the fact you put a clear coat with no stain, awesome.

It is a floating panel with a 3/8" tounge sunk into the wenge frame. The wnege frame has 2 1/2" splines in each mitered corner effectively spanning the entire miter and locking it in place. The floating panel is attached via cleats to the apron to also allow for some movement. Overall it is a combination of all of these techniques that account for the movement of the wood. I have built several tables over the years using this system and I have not had one fail on me yet.
