Well this is my shop. It's half of a 2 car garage, 12X26 when the wife is at home, when not 24×26. Most of my stuff I set up to be mobile. The bench I havent had to much time to use yet. I bought the plans online. It's the new fangled workbench. As you can see there are various brands of equipment, Craftsman. There is a Delta 12" planer. Skill table top drill press. And there is my pride and joy, the Grizzly dust collector. My neighbor across the street's son owns a auction barn. I picked it up for $175.00, it runs on 220, with a little over 1600 cfm i believe. It does the jobe for me. Below the bench is my last purchase a Lathe. Inexpensive but useable picked it up from Harbour Freight the other day. I read the blogs about this Lathe. I will need to weight it down. (I know That) ... I havent turned since highschool, over 30 ago. So I thought it would be good for a starter. The Router table I built with a Pinnaclle top. I decided where I'm going to put the lathe. I need it a little bit higher than the stand would give me, because i'm 6' 3" this bench looks like it will do fime. And I think that it will not go anywhere. I have a tendency to over build things. ( good in this case }

Nice shop. Not shot of the lathe. Hopefully it's the #34706. I've got that one, and it is a nice mid sized lathe. Certainly no mustard monster, but a great lathe to get turning with…

Yes it is the 34706. Ended up only paying $195.00 for it. Its still a little cold in the shop, and need to get ahold of my neighbor to help me get it together. I really got the itch to get it when I won the Turning Basics For Furniture Makers, from Woodworkers Resource. ( That suprised the heck out of me)...

Nice. I got mine for a little bit less than that, but not much (it totalled up to $195.00 after the extended warranty…).

Have you put it together yet? If not, get a fresh bottle of Loctite for the threads. I need to redo mine… The stand will shake itself apart if you let it…

Okay thanks for the pic update. That lathe must be a brand new addition… Too clean! The base / bench you set it up on looks nice and sturdy.

Out of everything I do in the shop, I have the least amount of productivity, but the most amount of fun with the lathe… I'm getting better though. Not quite so many bowls are ending up in the fireplace now…

Tim, this is a pretty nice shop that you have to work in. The windows are a big bonus in my book. I have always wished that my shop had more natural light in it as I find it easier to work under. Bummer about the "non-essentials" taking up room in your shop space. :) But I guess the mower and snowblower have to go somewhere. And I can well understand about only getting 1/2 of the garage. I have often said that I am glad we added a third garage in our basement when we built. If I had to ask my wife to let her car sit outside so that I could have some shop space I would be outside before her car would be. :)

You have some nice tools to play with as well. And that is a nice looking bench that you have added to your shop.

Thanks for the pictures. I enjoyed touring your shop.

I'm going to mount the lathe today, where it is setting on the bench. If I need to move it later I think I will have my brother build me one. He has the equipment to do it ( I have no experince in metal work). It's going to be above freezing the next 4 or 5 days after today. Can't wait to get back into turning, going to take it slow by just turning stuff with cheap wood, since it has been over 30 years since i used one.

Tim…

That bandsaw is your friend… Do you have a turning club in your area? They can help you get started again, and get moving on the lathe…

I was out of woodworking for 20 + years myself until my lovely bride insisted I build my shop… We never had lathes in high school wood shop, so I never had my hands on one until I bought mine… The process of learning is a LOT of fun… I hope you know, you stepped onto a very slippery slope. Woodturning is highly addictive…

Well orgainsed space, Tim. I dream of such space. Whilst both your and my garage are about the same length your 'single' space is nearly twice as wide (imagine fitting into 7'). But then cars are bigger in the US.

Tim, this looks pretty good. Having your tools on wheels is a necessity if you need to switch your shop back and forth to a garage. Bummer that your wife won't let you keep the space as a shop but, as I said in my earlier comment, I can well understand that this is one battle you will definately lose. :)

You have organized your shop well and it looks like a fun place in which to work.

Boy howdy, that's a real nice shop and lots of nice tools. I like shops that have roll up garage doors. You can open 'em up and let in all that light and fresh air.

Nice shop. Now I have to deal with my bandsaw inferiority complex.

Nice looking shop! The fence on your router table looks exactly like the one on my little Bosch router table.
