Project Information

I built the Anarchist's Toolchest, but realized how quickly the lid became a place to store things when closed (I share space in a shop so I usually put whatever I was working on on top of it at the end of the day to free up bench space for others, then had to move it all the next day to get into it). It was a hassle to move everything off to get into and I wasn't a big fan of having to reach to the floor to get a plane. All this was mentioned on an episode of the Woodwrights Shop, but I didn't see it until later. Still glad I built the ATC because I learned a great deal of skills and theory.

This chest was a breeze after that, it doesn't become a resting place for random shop items and is a pleasure to work from. My ATC will be with me forever and is used now for longer term tool storage/for tools and moulding planes I don't use all too frequently.

Great work on both chests and a nice memorial for your friend. What is that wood tool(?)leaning against your chisels in the last pic?

It's a melancholia square I purchased from cronkwright woodshop. I purchased it a while ago and enjoy using the wood square. It's a neat and inspiring tool with an interesting history.

Mr.Lobster, the chest looks great and seems to filled to the brim with goodies. I built mine to carry the tools I use the most at my woodworking class. It sits on top of my ATC when it isn't traveling. Took a peak at your ATC, outstanding build as well. You might want to post the two chests on the Tool Chest of Your Dreams thread, quite a few ATC's and Dutchies there.

Nicely done and great looking selection of tools inside. I am going to disagree with the name though, the company I work for has a lot of Dutch heritage in it and they're almost all WAY too cheap to build something like this instead of re-purposing anything else they already had to save a couple bucks!
