Project Information

I built this Dutch tool chest to sit on top of the saw bench that was my last project. It is made from home center #2 pine. It was an easy build. I pretty much followed the plans in the October 2013 issue of Pop WW, except I thought there was some wasted space in the lower compartment so I added two shallow drawers. I'm glad I did, it adds some great storage for small items. Painted with milk paint. I added a pair of dog bone handles, because they work great and I get to use up some scrap. Would have loved to get the wrought iron hardware from Black Bear Forge, but at over $200 it just wasn't in the cards for me. I found some used chest hinges on ebay for a reasonable price. The sides are dovetailed to the bottom and the back is ship lapped. The top has breadboard ends. So far I really like working out of it. It is at a very convenient height and when I need something I just have to turn around and grab it. Thanks for looking.
