Project Information

This is my completed dutch tool chest. It was built mostly according to Schwarz's plans in Popular Woodwoorking though I added a little drawer to the side for my oily rag in a can (a la Paul Sellers). Need to complete the tool holding components yet but the box itself is finished. Held together with dados and cut nails (screws on the back) So far I'm really liking working out of it and it gives my tools a place to go home to which is keeping the shop a bit more organized. Built in pine with cherry breadboards (walnut pegs). It is finished in Lexington Green milk paint with acrylic for the lettering and the drawer front. Considering a little more artwork on it but I'm liking the look so far.

To get the letters to turn out as nicely as I did I painted the front panel green first and then covered it with masking tape and taped the letters on top, then I used a razor to cut out the letters through the paper and the tape. Sponged on two coats of acrylic paint and then when it was dry removed all the tape.
