Project Information

I needed storage for my growing hand tool collection. After looking at options I decided to try a dutch chest. Time will tell if I like working out of it, but for now it's keeping the dust off my tools. I know these are traditionally painted, but this was my first with hand cut dovetails and I didn't want to cover them up. How's that for vanity!

Thanks for looking!

It looks very nice and useful. I like the slanted top that prevents you from piling stuff on top. The inside of the top can be a good place for a rack to hold saws small enough to fit.

Nice small tool box, great job. It should work out well for a portable tool box.

Looks great! Reminds me of a movie with Sidney Poitier, The Simple Life of Noah Dearborn. :)

Very nice. Looks well organized and well built I would like to build something like this as well. Right now, all of my tools go into a plastic tote. Thanks for sharing.

Is that a wooden jack plane. Do you use it a lot?. How do you like it? I have a Stanley no 5 and a veritas low angle jack and they are wonderful. I'd love to try a wooden one.

It's more of a jointer plane, about 22"long. My no 5 and no 4 are alongside it and it's about as long as both of them together. I do use it and it works quite well. One day I hope for a no 7, but the old wooden one gets the job done.

Nice work. You may still paint it after the infatuation wears off. Your tool kit reminds me of mine when I first started. Combination of old and new. Cool.
