Project Information

I took this design from a few source's on YouTube & Shop notes Magazine. I used 1" ply wood wrapped in melamine to start. Adding the Kregtool t tracks for attaching the fence as well as clamping & jigs. I also routed out a circle to insert a replaceable backing plate. This is my first shop jig & can't wait to create more jigs & projects. I'll take more pics to up load later.

Thanks Greg

Great job!

You may want to mention to fellow LJ'ers who might want to build this that the replaceable circle should NOT be directly centered under the drill. By placing if off-center, like you did, it allows you to simply rotate the circle to get a fresh surface to drill into.

This is a very fine example of a drill press table - it has every thing needed and then some!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks gentlemen! One of my next tasks will be adding a mobile base with drawers under it.

Man I wish I would've thought of the off-center circle… I ended up making a handful of spares and setting them aside… nice work!

Thanks Jackie, when I made this I also hade to make a circle jig for the router. Cut plenty of replacements. Its also funny cause I liked the lift system on your table.

Thanks

Great table. Planning to build one for my new DP. Would you mind expanding on how you made the backing plate and insert? Thanks.

Sigo, First off thanks for looking and commenting. You need to decide what tool to use. I used my router so I needed to make a circle jig for it.

Decide where to off set the circle. Find the center and set your desired radius on the jig. Route out the circle first then remove the material in the center. For the insert just set up the jig to cut the outside of the radius just cut. It is tricky a little bit. I could've gone into more depth of course. It may be easier to do some investing in Lumber Jock's, Google & YouTube, for router circle jig. You can also do the same thing but square, can still be off set just will be limited to two ends. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask!

Nice DP table, but you're in trouble now. Next thing you know, you will find yourself building a jig jig. LOL
I like making jigs to make things repeatable and timesaving.
