Very nice. Love the stain and finish job. May I ask what your process was to finish the birch plywood and manage blotching?

No Kiddin'

I want to know how you finished that as well! It looks fantastic and I have 3 dressers to build here real quick. I too would like to use ply for them because I think the recipients will just beat them up anyway so I don't want to spend a fortune on materials.

I used minwax pre-stain wood conditioner, one coat of Varathane oil based wood stain (Red Mahogany), and 4 coats of minwax satin rub on poly. Sanding with 400 and 600 grit.

One more thing that might have helped with the botching - my garage was about -10 C when I stained it. Wood was pretty cold and it took a couple days to dry
