Project Information

The body on the top dragonfly was made by mixing ground Shattukite (a mineral) and flaked mother of pearl. The middle section is acrylic from a pen blank. The body on the bottom dragonfly was made by mixing paduk sawdust and flaked mother of pearl. The middle section is acrylic from a pen blank. The heads on both are flaked mother of pearl. The background is spalted maple.

Most of it is marquetry. The dragonfly heads and tails are more like inlay. I cut a hole in those areas, fill the hole with the powered material or mother of pearl flakes, dump some CA glue on top of it and sand it down when it's dry.

Beautiful work!!!
The red, brown Dragonfly looks like it's sitting on the wood in the picture would be nice to see a few more pictures from different angles so we can really enjoy it.
