Workshop Information

Location
United States
During the summer months in Florida it will be difficult to utilize my workshop garage to any extent with the thermometer hovering at 94 + degrees and humidity at 80 % or better.
We live in a restricted community so the noise level must be kept at a minnumum.
Wife wants her space to park in the garage and with the summer rains I don't want her getting soaked for my benefit, As a result the garage is for the most part utilized for the parking of the auto after 5.30 PM.
I hope some day to move to a more suitable climate and have a shop dedicated to woodworking, This Will not happen until wife retires and we are free to go in four years. In the mean time I have the Radial arm saw, my bench, and the table saw, I hope to some day upgrade the table saw to one with a better degree of quality, however it will suffice for now, a stationary router, and a portable planner.Yes they have to be moved when in operation but at least we don't live in an appartment and have the space available.I have the need for a drill press, and a lathe, but these will have to be put on hold for now. I did order a plunge router however, this will be useful in the near future, The price was right!!!.
I could have used better lighting but I'M not a photographer.

It's strange looking at these workshops. Some complain about it being too hot, or too cold, or too small, or not enough equipment. Doug, I'd accuse you of never using your space if it weren't for the off-cuts bin. Nice tidy shop - now get in there and make some wood dust!

Hang in there, Doug. It took me twenty years to build my current shop, but it was worth the wait. My shop has been in the 80's the last couple of days and I hate to see what summer brings here in Louisiana.

There's nothing worse than having some neighbor stride over and tell you to keep it down, I'm trying to watch Survivor…..That's why I live in the country…PS Nice Shop

Well if anyone gives you a hard time come on down to New Port Richey. I make lots of saw dust and shavings and no one has said a word about noise. So stop by any time.

Hi Doug,

You posted this before I came on board but I am glad that it came up on my review list. You have a nice shop. It is neat (too neat) :) and well organized. I can empathize with you about "sharing" it with your wife. I am glad I put a third garage in my walk-out basement. If I had to ask my wife to put her truck out in the weather so that I could use HER side of the garage I can guarantee you I would be out in the weather.

Thanks for the post. I enjoy "visiting" your shop.
