Project Information

This is a jewelry box I made for my wife Sue two Christmas's ago. It's the first one I had ever made for her. She usually gets all of my mistakes. And the silly girl is happy to get them. This was designed so one of the mistakes could fit right on top of this one, as in the second photo.

It's constructed of Zebra Wood and Walnut using my favorite joint the double-double dovetail. For this joint I use an Incra jig. You can see more of my work on Incra's Gallery page, and I'm very proud to be there. There are six coats of laquer spayed on inside and out. Each drawer has different sized dividers and rides on wooden glides.

It measures 15" x 10" x 6"

And for a REALLY good time shameless promotion

That has to be one of the best looking projects I've seen. I've never seen the double-double dovetail but it looks fantastic. Thanks for the post.

Nice jewelry boxes, and bowls. That Zebra Wood has some interesting grain. Sue better keep you around.

Judging from this piece, I'd venture that your "mistakes" are better than most people's best work.

Now about that shameless promotion: It's a nice looking site, and I love the name. But please tell me you don't intentionally have it coded so that one can not use the "back" button to navigate away from your page. This is a pet peeve of mine when people do this and you can't go back to where you were immediately before going to that site. :-(

"Sorry Charlie", It must be your browser. It works great for me. I just tried it. I use Safari. Charlie, I just tried it with Firefox, and it worked great again. I love saying "Sorry Charlie".

Your box is among the five best projects I've seen (in my opinion). And there are some fantastic projects here.

Why did I know "sorry Charlie" was coming? lol! That's what I get for stubbornly sticking with Internet Explorer I suppose.

Back doesn't work on my version of Internet Explorer either. I go to history button and back around it.

Heck, I already have Firefox installed on my computer. I can't remember why I don't use it. :)

Very nice box, Odie - while a good dovetail jig can really help make good joints, the final result depends on the user.

Regarding the website - the reason IE won't back out of it is that the entry page automatically forwards you to a second page. http://web.mac.com/johnorsue/
forwards you to
http://web.mac.com/johnorsue/ODENHEIMERS_DUSTN_LINT/DUSTN_LINT.html
When you click "back" from the second page, you go to the page that automatically forwards you to the second page! In IE there is a little down arrow next to the back button. If you click that down arrow, it gives you a list of the last few pages you visited and you can skip past the auto-forward page.

Thank You Peter, makes perfect sense to me. Now there is an "Explorer Shameless promotion" that goes straight to the "MAC" address. Try that Charlie …

Nice box Odie. I have the Incra jig but haven't tried that joint yet. I can barely do a good job with the 'easier' ones.

Odie,

I really can't see any reason why your wife would be anything less than ecstatic about your "mistake". This is a beautiful box. Your execution with the Incra jig is simply outstanding. It is no wonder that you are featured on their site. This is truly a masterful piece. The finish is gorgeous as well.

On a 1 to 5 scale this one rates a 10 (and it is a mistake?????)

Thanks for the post.
