Project Information

I recently had a project that required many drawer slides. I was on a tight time constraint so I wanted to buy and use the Kreg Magnetic Drawer Slide Mounting Tools (link). Unfortunately, they seem to be discontinued. The only one I could find was on ebay for $150! So, I made my own from some scrap ply and a couple Harbor Freight magnets I had laying around. It worked beautifully and was well worth the couple hour investment.

I've never seen anything like that before - commercial or DIY. Very good!

Nice work. I'm interested in the project to build drawers in the Incra router table stand. I recently purchased the same stand and so far have only put 1/2 panels in the short sides. I'm thinking on how to enclose and add drawers. Do you have a picture of it complete to help me?

Rockler sells a version of that now. I knew I saw something blue that was a drawer slide jig but didn't realize it wasn't Kreg. Anyways, that's a great on-the-spot jig making and much cheaper too. I have some of those HF magnets around as well, so i might follow suit.

Its not quite done yet, otherwise I would post the project. I still need to make the drawer fronts. Here are some recent pics. I've also attached a rough drawing of how I layed out the face frame. This should give you a 1.5" reveal all the way around. I used at 3/4" face frame and cut a rabbit on each side to be able to slide in the stands .5" slots.

I thought about buy the Rockler one after I couldn't find the Kreg, but it just seems overly complicated for what it is. Plus, even though I really like Rockler's customer service and their branded products, their shipping is frustrating. Amazon Prime has ruined me.

I was searching the web to see if my project DIY slide jig would show up and it did. Yours also did.

The magnets are a nice touch. Wish I incorporated one in the top of the adjustable leveling knob on mine.
I could make another knob with one.

Great idea. Here's a photo of my version you can see it on my page.

I noticed you haven't posted any more of your great projects since 2017.
What happened?
