Project Information

After my wife saw the BBQ table, she decided we needed a new dinning table (the old one was pretty tired). We went shopping for a suitable piece of marble and found this beautiful piece of blue marble exactly the right size. We only had to have them cut 1/8" off one end to remove a chip. We brought it home, I wrapped some mahogany decking around it and vuala.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Scott: I used 2 or 3 coats (don't remember now, it was ~5-6 years ago but I still have the can) of ZAR exterior polyurethane on the wood and a marble sealer on the stone. The ZAR seems to be indestructible.

The BBQ table was pretty much my first "wood working" project and this was my second. I'm a stone sculptor and I've done general construction, but I wouldn't call construction wood working. I won't point out the many errors in this table ;).

The best thing about this table? I had to buy a 10" Makita sliding compound miter saw in order to do it. Sounded like a good excuse at the time .
