Project Information

I wanted a dedicated jointer for edge work for some time and finally gathered enough material to make one. Thanks goes out to my neighbor Brian for the gift of a beautiful quartersawn blank of Brazillian Cherry. A little mix of woods and texture added to the cherry blank. I had a few small pieces of ebony for the pressure cap and screw but didn't have enough for the handle and fence so I made those from walnut and ebonized them for contrast.

Thanks for looking and Happy Woodworking.!

I appreciate all your comments !

Robert, the vise is a Wilton with an enclosed lead screw .

Klaus, It dials in real nice with the Veritas slow adjuster that I bought. What makes me happy is that it functions well and I've only got about $25 into it. The adjuster was $15 and the 3/8 brass was $8. The blade came with a plane I bought and resold. The chipbreaker I had and cut down to match the blade.

Boy this shoots to near the top of my want list-awesome.

What are the dimensions of the plane and what angle do you have the blade bedded at?

Thanks for sharing.

Looks fantastic, nice curves. The Veritas blade adjuster I'm sure makes it easy to dial in.

Is the body glued up Krenov style?

Completely awesome, I'm blown away! How did you get that 'stippled' finish in the relief portion of the fence? It looks incredible!

That is a really nice-looking plane, well done. Seems to function really well too. Is the mouth tight, or do you rely on the chipbreaker for tear-out control?
