Project Information

A jig I made for making my Mission table lamps.

I received a very nice dado set for Christmas and just now had the opportunity to use it. The idea of combining the right number of blades and size to fit a two pieces of wood together was overwhelming to me.
I came up with a plan:
on each blade in the set I assigned a letter to. A,B,C…......
I combined blades and made a pass on my "storyboard" and annotated which blades I used.
I very carefully put all the different combination together and cut them in to the "storyboard".
Now when I need to cut a dado for a piece of wood I first take the piece to my storyboard and determine which combination of blades best fits.

I think I originally got the idea from Tommy Silva on 'This old House' show yrs ago.

It works beautifully and eliminated a lot of test cutting.

That is a handy looking accessory, one I should also do.
