Workshop Information

Location
Australia
Hi All,
this is the current workshop space I have. Its filled with a boat I am currently building…so things are a bit tight for moving around. The main space lacks window openings, however, has a set of double doors that open out to some lovely daylight. The space is about 7.0m X 6.0m. Its reasonably workable…(just got to finish the boat and get it out!!!)
cheers

just thinking it may be more appropriate to add some of the things I've built up till now for the shop, in terms of equipment…may as well post them here so that I can start afresh, new builds under the "projects" tab….

Anyway, I have always had a fascination for building stuff…generally from wood. I've never really been one for absolute perfection (although I am tending towards that end of the spectrum as I get older). One of the first pieces of equipment I decided to build (from necessity) was a rotating/lifting router unit, with table, fence, vacuum (the works)!!! I spent a bit of time looking through Matthias Wandel's site and projects…and just had to have me one of them. the build looked pretty quick and simple. I had a ball making the unit - I really get a kick out of using it…..
Secondly, I've also put together a table/drum sander. Again did the research on the web of similar builds etc…and decided to put that spare motor I had lying around to work. I still need to prepare a few protective panels to surround the belt/motor - but otherwise its accuracy is within acceptable bounds - so I'm happy. Additionally, its the perfect bit of gear I'm going to need in order to prepare all the fine timber componentry for that Bi-Plane I've semi-started to tackle.
I cant help myself - I've also seen way too much wasted timber (from storm damaged trees) just cut up into firewood …so I've started researching horizontal bandsaw mills. I've put together a quick model based on that research and now I am really just spending some time collecting the components for the build. This project is one that I will get started shortly. I am just looking for a reasonable gap in my workload…..

hope that gives you a better idea of the chaos and multiplicity of stuff that's constantly rolling around in my head….I am definitely someone that doesn't like sitting down for too long….
