That came out nice. The little bit of sapwood in the cherry makes for a nice contrast.

I'm a cutting board junkie….I love it! I usually use allot of maple and splash in some darks ( walnut, cherry, bubinga) that is a beautiful example of a dark board… with contrast! What did you finish it with? I see it is an end grain board…could you elaborate on your construction method??? Nice job.

It is finished with mineral oil, which needs to be refreshed occasionally depending on use. I cut long strips and glue them into one piece. These are then cut into cross sections. I flipped every other one end for end to get the checkerboard effect when they are re-glued with the end grain out.
