Project Information

Hello everyone.
Here a new design cutting board.
Previously attempt to end-grain, but the result was not very good as it use pine is softwood, and this led then by change of moisture from peeling. I did not think much wood would move but it is so. Until I get light colored hardwood will not attempt to repeat this form.
So I focus on a design that uses as much of hardwood, and only a few lines of softwood. I also focus on using grains "along".
But the idea was to make something that catches attention by its shape and color, so giving probe angles.
The result left me satisfied. I think the image impacts the view and I hope that does not come off with time and use. Anyway cedar sides are reinforced with small dowels of 3 mm.
Is algarrobo, pine and cedar side.
Also here included a photograph of the system I use for the router as a planer. As simple as possible.
The center line I'm a little displaced, because it happened to me pressing harder when it is not completely perpendicular.
Anyway it is a gift so I do not imagine there will claim!
Thanks for looking! Accepted criticisms.

Nice design ! An ambitious project to take on without a bandsaw or powered spindle sander. But you did it ! Felicitaciones !

Very nice board. I like the design and may have to try something similar to it. Great idea for using the router as a planer.

Well you asked for it, I'm very impressed you made this board by hand. The design and colors work well together. Obviously precision is important. Keep at it.
