Project Information

Thanks to the creative ideas of other jocks and thier willingness to share their knowledge, I was able to make a few of these. In my mind they look great and after a bit of planning are relatively easy to make. They don't wear as well as an end grain board but they don't take as long to produce.

Steve,

This is a very nice cutting board. This would make an excellent gift as well. How about a matched set?
In case you need something else to do.:)

Have fun.

I love that design, visually it appeals to me. I am thinking of making some of these. Probably a dumb question but: Do the end grain/ long grain intersections need re-enforced with biscuits or splines or something?

jm82435. don't worry about quality of questions. I'm a newbie and as I type this wonder if LJ should have a separate area for "dumb" questions. You should hear the ones I ask but in my mind its much better to ask and learn than to remain silent and, maybe, ignorant.

I've not used any type of reinforcement on my end or side grain boards. No trouble yet. The key for me was getting the dimensions real tight as just a little variance shows up big time.
