Project Information
These were actually my first scroll saw projects I cut earlier this year. I saw a simple pattern for this wine bottle and set of glass holders on another forum and decided to add some customized graphics and names to them. Being in the printing business I'm fully fluent in most high end graphics programs, so whipping up customized designs like this is second nature to me. The woodworking part of it is new however, so I have some learning curves to climb on that side of the projects.
In addition to wine, my wife loves martinis, so that was the first secondary beverage I created next to the default wine theme for obvious reasons (this being a wine bottle and wine glass holder!). Then some friends of ours liked wine and margaritas, wine and beer and so forth. I used regular poplar from Home Depot, planed to 1/2", drilled, scroll cut, sanded and finished them with Deft satin finish spray and a light sanding with 220 grit sanding pads.
Some friends of ours are getting married in the Fall and another couple we know will probably be engaged by then as well, so I know I'll be making a few more of these later this year. Once I know their drinking preferences besides wine, I'll make some other variations of these clever pieces.
