Project Information
A matching set of custom floating nightstands that I made for a private client. We decided that Walnut was the way to go and after a bit of google image searching we had a pretty good idea what they liked and disliked.
I use sketchup as a CAD option these days (helps that it's free). I came up with the design and was able to render an image of the room with the nightstands in place so the client would be able to visualise it properly.
In all they took 2 weeks to make and I chose rough 4/4 walnut and hard maple for the drawer internals. That was a good choice in the end. They really came out nice. i made the drawer pulls and the glue up was about the trickiest part of the build.
I used a french cleat to fix them to the wall.
My favourite feature was my first attempt at a grain wrap which I'll be sure to do again. Have already actually.
All in all I was happy with this one.
