Project Information

Hi Folks - I just wrapped up a new project for my game room with a custom gaming table, mostly for tabletop role playing (D&D). It's themed around symbols from Tolkien's the Lord of the Rings (for anyone familiar with it) and features many of the main factions both good and evil who are central to the story. It's supposed to be build on the base of a stone column, and for the first time using stone paint, I think it actually came out pretty well, and was very easy. Each playing position has individually controlled lighting embedded in the table which can be changed for game purposes. The Central column also is connected to a linear actuator and raises and lowers with a switch, which also has some utility during game play. I have an access door on the back with a geared locking mechanism that I stole from an online project I saw somewhere….the gearing took a bit to figure out, but wasn't too bad.

The interior structure is cabinet grade plywood and the exterior is Walnut and Maple.

Very cool! I think the stone column base came out very well. Your logo is great… Paladins rule! Success in all your quests.

Wow. I need one of these! First I need a gaming room I guess. And I should probably play games..

Seriously this is phenomenal craftsmanship. I'm a big Tolkien fan but even if I knew nothing of Middle Earth, this can be appreciated by anyone.

Excellent ingenuity. I'm not a game player but all of the lighting and the actuator to raise and lower the center to accommodate your needs is great work, let alone the craftsmanship in the woodworking to boot. Great job.

Another great job. And I still say a stained glass eye of Sauron in that window would be the crowning touch. (Give the Boss a choice: a small stained glass insert in the small arched pane of glass - or a panoramic fresco of Mount Doom on the sloped ceiling. LOL) Thanks for posting. Stay healthy!

Oh wow, I am considering paying to have a hobbit house built, and browsing items to get ideas for custom furniture, remove the middle and it would make a great dinner table
