Project Information

I made this custom fly fishing net with a clear rubber net for a friend I met through an online fishing community. The hoop is wenge & curly maple, and the handle is curly maple with a custom laser-inscribed logo. The net is for a son of my client who is a pharmacist. Hence, the mortar & pestle with an RX and his monogram below that. This net came out superbly with the hoop shimmering with a heavy curl in the outside maple strip. The handle has a very curly curl that just POPS! The new rubber net smells just like a new car! Rubber nets are all coming iunto their own because they don't retain fishy smells, don't stay sopping wet, won't tangle in your flies, and supposedly don't scare the fish as a black net does.

If you are interested in a new car that smells like a fishing net, see your local dealership, but if you want a new custom fly fishing net, please go to my website where I have nets for sell, or contact me at [email protected] to discuss a custom and/or personalized net.

The hand tied lanyard adds a nice touch, and the finish is a hand rubbed oil/carnuba wax mixture that begs to be touched!

You can see my other custom fly fishing landing net posts here, here, & here.

I also make custom fly fishing magnetic net catches like these.
There is a video at the link showing how they work. These are indespensable lil beauties when fly fishing on a stream!
Thank you for looking at my custom fly fishing net post. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making it.

That is a real nice net. The monogram and M & P give it the custom look.

Since you are making fishing stuff for sale, are you aware that you are required to collect a tax and remit to the IRS? Federal Excise Tax, Form 720, is what I am required to follow for custom fishing rods and related items. Part II of the form, line 41, relates to sport fishing equipment (other than fishing rods and fishing poles).

Beautiful landing net. My son wants me to make two of them for himself and my grandson. I would ask you to do a tutorial blog on this subject, but I guess you wouldn't want to since you sell them. Regardless, thank you for the inspiration and I also know where to go for the rubber net.

Greg, another stunning net!

Do you dye the curly maple a bit, then sand it back to get the curly maple to pop? You're already showing off that curl nicely, and might want to experiment with a dye if you're not doing so currently.

Again, beautiful job!
