Project Information

Just finished this new built-in entertainment center for our home. This is the first major project I've done in my new shop.

I built the base cabinets as individuals so they were easy to move from the shop. The upper unit is split in 3 pieces, making it easier to move as well.

I built it over 2 months, mostly evenings. I probably have about 100 hours into the build.

very nice work ,
I am doing something similar in MDF, how did you do the cornice, is it bulit up or in one moulding? , did you make a jig for the shelf pin holes? I am doing glass shevles so will have to get the holes dead on perfect !! its great when theres no pressure on a build.

@ a1Jim - Thanks for the compliment, I'm very pleased with the design and results.

@ Scottishbob - I used standard moldings at the top and bottom. I actually used the shelf pin jig from Rockler. It works really great and totally worth the price on a project like this.

Is it a knick knack shelf or an entertainment center?? You'll have a lot more room for electronics if you were to lose some of the pretty knick knacks. Your Mrs. won't mind. LOL! Nice job Todd.

Very nice piece. Great craftsmanship.
One Q: What did you use for the panels in the doors and drawers?

Thanks for all the compliments folks.

@corydaras - I used MDF beadboard because it's a painted cabinet and less likely to expand and contract

Todd, this is a beautiful entertainment center. This really looks nice and very practical and well designed. I'm sure it is the focal point of the room.
