Project Information

Here is a project that I had fun working with. This was built for a customer to work on his Playstation 2 console game system. The joystick and buttons are real arcade controls and are connected to a Playstation game pad. All the buttons have a shop cut veener inserted and the joystick top and dust cover were turned on my Jet mini lathe.

The only part that I am not happy with is that one corner did not meet up properly so there is a nice ugly black line there. I used a tung oil for the finish after sanding through 12000 micromesh.

isn't it funny how we can always make three perfect miters ? LOL …great job and certainly unique : )

Now you just need to do a wood case-mod for the PS2 and he'll be all set! Nice work!

Nice looking control. If we made them triangular there would be one less corner to worry about… but then would it be the last corner that gives us grief? LOL…well it was funny(to me?) when I wrote it :)

I am currently working on a set of shooting boards to make this miter problem a thing of the past. I'll post a project on them when I am finished.

Your wood will move in the opposite direction of the grain on that top (unless it's plywood) and further complicate those miters. Just a point of notice. Really cool. My brother plays street fighter 4 on one similar to your pad with the picture on it. Sweet.
