Project Information

Made this little bowl today from a piece of Curly Cherry that I've been whittling at for a couple of years. I made another one awhile back and have posted a picture of the comparison between a regular bowl from a board and a segmented bowl (last picture). This bowl measures 8.5" x 2.75". I would have been larger, but the first two rings blew apart. I can only assume that the joint wasn't as tight as I thought it was. I applied one coat of BLO and then buffed it with the Beall Buffing System - the finish really came out nice and feels as smooth as a Baby's Bottom.

I like it Bill. What is the black hole in the center? Am I missing something?

It's not a hole, it's a 1" round gold (plastic) medallion with my "Crafted by" information on it. It is slightly inset into the bottom.

In that case, I like the idea of having a medallion inserted. A personal touch.

The medallion is a superb idea! Do you have them made somewhere?
