I was going to comment on the Walnut Sapwood inclusion until I read your post. : ) Great looking table !!

Dusty the walnut sapwood fades into the maple (which is recessed approx 1/4") to mimic the maple heartwood stripes in the top.

Ok thanks ….I love the way you used the sapwood in the legs ! Every time I go Walnut shopping , I look for pieces that contain Sapwood : )

Love the apparent tension set up by the angled legs, makes the top look even more dramatic and gives great leg room at the ends.
What a chunk of lumber! combined with outstanding design.

That really is gorgeous! This might just be inspiration for my next table! How big is the table, and how did you attach the top to the base? I love this table…

richardwootton, there is a crossbrace at the top of the uprights (similar to the footbrace). and there are horizontal planks connecting these crossbraces. Top is bolted to the cross braces and horizontal pieces.
