Project Information

While not my best work, the most worthy of a post! One of them projects that fought me to the end but… Almost a year and three months later it's finally complete. I guess plans would have helped but what fun would that have been? Anyways, the cabinet was constructed from quarter sawn white oak and stands about 77" high by 18" wide. The lighting is 20 watt halogen on both the top and bottom. The finish was amonnia fumed and mostly based from The Wood Whisperer's formula for QSWO. All in all I probably have at least $800-$1000 in materials with the glass being about 2/3's the total cost. Most of that cost came from the 1 1/4" bevel and arch work. The door is secured by 2 rare earth magnets which help keep it clean:)

Exquisite detail and design. You did a beautiful job on this piece. Reminds me of my gun cabinet I have listed. Thanks for posting.

Hi Ron;

Great job, and it's easy to see why the glass was 2/3 of the cost!

I'll bet the wife is happy though, assuming it's for her!

Very nicely done;

Thank you everyone! Finding a glass shop to provide a reasonable quote was a nightmare!! My first quote was $800, then I finally ended up with about $525 with the shelves:) Yep for the wife and all 150 of her shot glasses. Time to celebrate I guess.

Really worthwhile project. I made two small ones just because of the cost of the glass. Yours is really great, you'll get generations of enjoyment from that one.
