Project Information

Covered Patio - A few years ago I added a cover and screened porch to my existing patio slab and wall as shown on these details. Two hurricanes hit during my 3 month construction period and it held up for each. A couple more hurricanes have come close since 2005 and thanks goodness we received no damage. Since the photo's were taken I had a contractor add a metal roof to the house and went ahead and included the porch also. We have really enjoyed this area.

It sure looks sturdy with all those posts. It's a very nice area and a great addition to the house. Great job!

Nice job. As soon as my herniated disc heals up, I'll be enclosing ours. I saved it to my faves in case I have any questions!

Looks great, I am getting ready for a similar addition. The problem here is the 145mph wind ratings and most likley wet stamp requirement of a civil engineer. Footings and all have rto be calculated.

Does anyone here have the ability (software) to calc a special truss design? This will be a non-parallel double beam truss, the lower will be the original rafters (2X6) and the upper will be to the new pitch….I have to use 20 dead and 60 live load at least 1/240….prefer 1/360. All are on 24 center..so there is a huge difference between the original 1950's roof and the current requirement. I may be able to include a single purlin somehwere..I am trying to figure that out now.

Let me know if you can help…
