Project Information
My wife inherited a hutch from her great grandmother. It was a rectangular cabinet with nice scroll work in the windows and gingerbread trim. She asked me to make a larger one for the corner of our home. One of the toughest parts was finding the draw pulls which are not exact, but so close to the ones on her g.grandmothers that you would think they were. I started with a lathe project for the three legs and added a bottom. Built up the sides and top all with 3/4 maple ply. Trim is all of curly maple. Door has a front and back and the glass is sandwiched. As you can see she liked it as it is jammed full.
The two base draws are on metal slides, the two side cabinets are simple pulls with magnetic catches. (They hold two large bottles of Gray Goose each)
