Project Information

This weekend I took a poor quality coping saw and turned it into a bowsaw. The original wouldn't keep the blade tight when cutting, so the bowsaw mechanism really helped.

The crosspiece is maple from a piece of firewood from my father. The spinner is red oak and the handle is unknown (sycamore perhaps?), both recovered from a hardwood pallet. I want to make a full-size bowsaw in the future, so this was a fun practice piece.

I will be using this new saw to help clear the waste when cutting dovetails.

Thanks for looking!
