Project Information

When my daughter asked me to build the coffee holder case (previous project), she asked for a cookbook stand that Pioneer Woman also had on sale at Walmart. As I wanted to tie into the type of kitchen theme she wanted to set her house to, I found this farmhouse pattern on ScrollSawVillage.com. She also has made it very clear she loves the look of Cherry so I grabbed some Curly Cherry when I grabbed the wood for the other project.

I liked the idea of the tilt mechanism since it shows off the picture when not in use but allows her to still read/use the book. I found the picture here from another who did one for altar books but the pattern wouldn't allow me to do it that way.

The knobs are handmade from scraps of Walnut I had and though I tried to cut my own button plugs, I had to purchase them from Woodcraft. I also needed to reinforce the slides with metal as I didn't plan that part of the project out very well. Everything is finished with General Finishes Oil-Based Arm-R-Seal.

I'm really looking forward to Christmas Day when she opens the box for this.
