Project Information

This has been on my mind for months now. Ever since I saw a fellow LJ's post on the bulldozer. I have been making these smaller version of my 2×4 cars for Christmas gifts (I'll post after Saturday), and REALLY wanted to try one. I am very infatuated with this size of car, and my head is swimming with ideas for them. My kids have all been so patient with watching toys come in the house to cure. It's been several months now. But since I'm all done, and the gifts are all wrapped up, it's about time they can have something to grab hold of and keep. :)

The dump truck bed is a learning on my part. I used a 1" bit to cut the waste out, and learned that you CAN NOT see where you are drilling. Next time I'll mark out the outside space and align the edge of the bit only. The rest will be chiseled out anyway, right?

Anyway, they're a hit…...back to the shop!!

Aww, forgive me, I'm feeling a little ferclempt. :)

I can't wait to see these cars you made! And yep on the back-hoe, it's the scratch my head idea that drove me to making the crayon boat the other day. I need to look on google more I think, get some ideas. Please let me know if you all have any ideas on how to do this. I'm trying to keep it alive if it gets stood on, or chucked across the room a few times.

Thanks Dale, and I love your rocking horses. VERY nice!!

As a fellow toy maker, I have to say your creations are fantastic! I have never seen a dozer as cute as yours.
It looks like you made the truck out of one solid piece. Wow what an accomplishment. Just wondering if you would consider cutting the truck bed flat and adding flat sheets for the sides as separate parts. This may cut down on the labor :)
Great job

Thanks so much for the kind words! :)

Ken - I hadn't thought of that, but it's a really good idea. I'll have to give it a go on the next round. It might give it more depth too. Thanks so much for the feedback, it's very much appreciated. :)
Also, your trucks are absolutely amazing, very inspirational.
