Project Information

Being relatively new to woodworking, most of my projects have at least one first in them. However, this box was full of them. The box is made from cherry and walnut and finished with danish oil. I purchased a cutoff box online, so that I could experiment with different wood types and this box is made completely from those cutoffs. Now my list of firsts.

This project is the first…

... time I made a project from something other than pine or poplar.
... project I built for myself and not as a gift. (I deserve it!)
... time I've made hinges.
... time I used splines.

I'm sure there is more, just can't think of them.

Good job! Note for future: I find that the splines look nicer if they are centered on the edge they reinforce. Just my 2cents..beautifull box and work!

Very nice box I was wondering about the wooden hinges because I need to make a tea box for my wife and thought that would be a nice touch. Thanks.
