Project Information

After taking a break from building my Wife's built in cabinet I am back working on the shop (my favorite projects). I needed a place to store sheet stock and the rolling cart I had was just too top heavy, limited on space and cumbersome to move. I had seen others store their sheets vertically and that fit well with my shop layout. It's not fancy but works well and saves a ton of space. I decided to add some shelf storage on one side facing my work area for paint, stain, and other finishes.

That's a cool storage rack, I need to figure out how I can build one to fit in my overcrowded shop. Nice job

Great Storage Space, nicely proportioned.
I'm setting up a dedicated 24'x27' Woodshop and your Sheet Goods Inventory made me smile, as it closely resembles the Material List for my Shop Cabinets.
Nice Work.

i did this in my last shop too
i did make it tall enough inside
so the sheet could be hooked on the bottom
(when carried sideways)
and tilted up into place
so the diagonal would not catch on the top
saves standing it upright
and walking the whole sheet in

That storage solution goes great with the rest of your shop.

The only way I could store sheet goods in that manner, would be to cut 1' to 1.5' off. My shop ceilings are only 7'.

Any one need 1.5' x 4' ply cut offs??? Lol.

That is a great sheetgood rack, I love the mulit-use aspect with the side storage!

2 questions, How wide are the cubbies?
And how did you attach the extra bit of plywood on the bottom of the vertical dividers to make them over 8' tall?
