Project Information

My wife received a message from the lady who ordered the Thr33 boxes and said she needed two more boxes quickly, if possible, before the wedding. I checked my wood stash and had just enough African Mahogany left over from the last batch to make two more, but had to dive into my cutoff bin for the lids. I managed to finish these in record time (for me anyway).
The woods used are African Mahogany, Padauk, Wenge, Quilted Maple, Walnut and Red Oak. The bottoms are lined with tan suede. If you would like to make something similar, check out Andy's great tutorial.
As always, any comments/critiques are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Brad, these are some gorgeous boxes. You executed a nice design both with the style and woods that you used. The handles are artfully done and add quite a bit of visual interest to them as well.

I do indeed like these… and others that you have made…The handle on the box on the right looks like a flattened Kangaroo…

You're right Larry. It's funny, I see a duck head and you see a kangaroo. I wonder why that is? lol

I really like the handles on these. Very nice pair of boxes you have there Brad. I have a couple of boxes lined up and I may see if I can mimic you a tad. Thanks for sharing….

Brad, those are really nice. Nice to use up 'scraps'.
Very artistic on the handles. I am in the duck category.

I love the finish too.

Very nice boxes, well done, with a great artistic flair, your use of scraps is impressive, it always boggles my mind when it comes to deciding what woods to use, for me, since I don't have a very extensive selection, it is a bit easier, your choices are great, love the contrast and color.

Very nicely done Brad…........ I love the complete look of them. You have done a wonderful job with forming the handles and with the wood combinations, they all go together just right.

Great boxes. The choice of woods works very well together; the joinery appears to be spot-on; the glued-up lids are real eye catchers; and the handles are the piece de resistance for each box. Excellent job - and you said that you made these in a hurry… Wow!!!
