Project Information
Here is a bird house I built for the bluebird to replace their old house. Several years ago, I can't even remember how long, my Wife and I build a bird house. Just a small project and time in the shop together. I put it up and for years no bird would move into it. Then one day my Wife acquired some old small barn doors and I attached them where the T.V. dish had been. She like it and grows morning glory's there. I topped it off with the bird house and a family of bluebirds moved in. As years passed, the little house got in bad shape.
The roof was cracked and leaked, it was just bad. The birds have been coming back to check on their home and I could almost hear them say, "hey buddy, we need a new house". Not wanting to be a bird house slum lord I build them a new one. I used log cabin style, notched all the "logs" and doweled the corners to make sure it won't come apart. I made it to the same size as the last as I have read bluebirds are particular where they live. Never know it looking at the last house. LOL. I used no stain or any coating so the fumes don't run them off. I'm going to let it age to match my Wifes display. A fun little project and I hope the bluebirds like it.
