Good Work Jim….Just the right length and the business end looks nice and smooth for an easy slide into the shoe.

I had Right Hip replacement 3 years ago and I think by the way I struggle to put my left shoe on (and Sock) the time is fast approaching for the left hip replacement…...So I think a Shoe Horn like that will have to be a very soon project. You have got me thinking. I will check the Net for the Slide Part.

Cliff, I should get my Right Hip replaced… I am putting it off because I have to take care of my wife, who cannot take care of me!

How long did it take you to get back to Normal? (if ever)...

I have an aid to get right sock on… Sure makes it EASY!

Thanks for all the nice comments. The kit tells you to make an 8" wooden handle for the shoehorn but I designed this long one and I have a story stick by the lathe that I always use to lay out the detail. I really needed it yesterday because I lost the drawing I made.

Hi Joe, I don't untie my shoes any more. I slip out of them and use the shoehorn to get back in 'em!

Hi Cliff, here is where to buy the kit: https://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKSHORN.html

Hi Charles. I made a back scratcher from Penn State too: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/281586

Thanks Jim…..Just placed an order with Penn State.

Even though the shipping is as much as the shoehorn, it is still only a grand total of around $18-00. It looks good quality so I can't go wrong. I hope I can do a good job on the turning like you did. It will be 2 weeks for economy shipping. This will give me time to poke about in my wood supply and choose a nice strong piece of wood…If it turns out OKAY I will post it on LJs.

Cliff.

Thanks, Wayne and Ivan…...........Cheers, Jim

Good going,Cliff!. I'm sure you'll do a super job on it!! I had to use my steady rest to keep it from chattering when It got down to the 3/4"

The Shellawax I was telling you about comes from Australia.

Cheers, Jim

Thanks Jim….Looks like I need to get a Lathe Steady….....I bought one a long time back but it doesn't fit the bed of my Lathe. I may be able to make an adjustment to make it fit. Anyway it is all part of the fun of wood working. Is that the EEE Shellawax.Jim?

Regards,

Cliff.
