Project Information

I thought I'd make 5 more combo tools for the show on Saturday as the first one sold right away. I added a rare earth magnet to these and made them a little longer. The top one is Chestnut, then Jarrah, then Mahogany and the last two are Koa. They are 5/8" x 1 1/4" x 11 3/4" long and finished with Danish oil and buffed and waxed.

Cheers, Jim

You're fortunate to get some beautiful Aussie Jarrah, gorgeous timber, very hard.
Are these gifts or to sell?

I've been making toaster tongs and bird headed rack pullers for years. I see now how "outside the box" thinking can show us that not everything has been invented yet. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I believe you will be flattered by many fellow LJ's. Me included. Great form & function. Hats off!

A great mix of 2 oft used kitchen tools, plus refinements.

Does it injure the Danish Oik's when you squeeze them to get the oil out? :)

Great idea adding the "toaster tong option". I was going to make several oven push/pull for a craft show. Do you mind what price you asked. I've seen the going rates on Etsy

I definitely could use a pair of these. The handiness of the magnet will work perfect in our kitchen.
On my list.

Thank you all for the nice comments and compliments!!

Hi Steve…One is a gift and the others go to the show. I hope I have to take orders for more!! I have a good stash of Jarrah…not real long( cut offs) but I get to use it on things like this all the time.

Hi Potzzy! Copy all you want. The patent ran out when I finished these!!!

Hi Dave. I'm going to experiment with a 1/2" rare earth magnet. These 3/4" ones really grab.

Cheers, Jim

Fine improvement over the last batch.

I like that you added the rare earth magnets. Screwing them in place is much more reliable than epoxy.

The customers who bought the last batch are going to have to buy more to keep up with the improvements.

I hope you made enough. With the delay in the retail supply chain these are going to make great stocking stuffers.

Thanks, James !! These magnets came with SS wood screws, but I have to face every one of them off in the lathe because they stick out above the surface of the magnets.

Good point on the product shipments. I'll use that in my sales pitch!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers, Jim

I really like this design and the addition of the magnet is inspired.
