Project Information

I used to work for a carpentry company, and we were helping with constructing a mansion. The customer had requested these giant rafter tails made from cedar, and there were so many discarded pieces that were going to be thrown away, I just couldn't let them go to waste. I took as many as I could home with me, and they had been sitting in my garage drying and collecting dust for about a year when I decided we needed a new coffee table. I milled down the pieces and made them a little over an inch and a half thick, and used kreg screws to join the top, bottom and sides together. I built a drawer and then used Dark Walnut Dutch Oil on the whole lot, then started coats of polyurethane after 2 days of letting the Dutch Oil soak in and cure. I finally got my desired result, and now it's sitting in my living room.
