Project Information

A few months ago I made 2 cups of coffee & a packet of biscuits, please.
That was, really, just a bit of fun - but, in fact, it's proved to be really really useful - every day it isn't raning, which is most days at the moment, we use it to take our coffee (and biscuits) out into the fields for the evening wind-down cuppa.
Next month we're off on a trip to see some friends, and I thought that they might like one too - so here it is.
Since this one is for a present, and not just for fun, I figured I ought to try and make a slightly "nicer" once - and incorporate some of the "suspended" ideas that I was playing with a while back. I also wanted to give the not-box-joint-jig a bit more of a run - it's good to have that kind of firepower in my arsenal.
I am also, I think, getting a bit better at project planing - where will the tear-out be? Where will it snipe? I'm now starting to think a bit more ahead to legislate for those things happening so, for example, the tearout will get cut off later, or be hidden underneath.
It's pine and jatoba - hot linseed oil finish, though I may add some danish to give it more water protection.

Size: 3 mugs wide x 1 mug wide x 1 mug and bit high

As is always the case - feel free to make any form of comment - positive or negative - as long as it doesn't include the result of any upcoming rugby matches.

I couldn't make that many straight cuts and line them up that nicely to save my life! lol
Your design is unique and the combinations of wood are very nice.
Have a nice time on your trip!

Carrying three coffee cups that are full can be a challange. And that is what we are here for, solving problems. Beautifully Simple.

Very handsome design and fabrication. I like your choice of contrasting woods. You could make quite a few versions of this with higher sides as a basket, tray or even a tool bin.

An elegant design with a (strange to us) European sensibility. How is it that we are so different on opposite sides of an an ocean in our vision and making, yet with such a common heritage?
You have stitched together pieces here much like you have done before and made them just so.
Your pieces are calming. I call you a true craftsman.

Very nice! My first thought at seeing this is that I should make one holding four wine glasses. I am the only one in the house that drinks coffee.
