Did you float the table top for expansion and contraction?

Doc I did the walnut is pinned through a tongue and grove and only glued in the center. It should be able to move back and forth.
If not I'll just wack it back into place.

Beautifully done Dave. That is sure to keep the little woman happy (for awhile at least). The table top is gorgeous and so are the butterflies.

Love the bowties Dave. Nice looking table. If I had one question, it would be about expansion. By adding the frame around the end grain on the top, will that effect it in any way? I cant watch the video from my phone, and the laptop is out for "repair", so if that was addressed, I apologize.

Hey Jeff thanks, the 30 pound grand youngun has already tested it out. I pointed to the dutchman and told him " if you want paw paw to teach you that I will." He promptly walked over to a bench with a dutchman and pointed at it and said "paw paw." Man its on. He is almost 2. Being winter I have been in the shop a lot. Come summer the yard and garden will take a bunch of my time. But I like vegies

Shane, the video does show some. The walnut top is tongued and the maple is grooved. I pinned it from the bottom and glued the center. Time will tell. If it fails, oh well lesson learned.

What a beautiful table. I love the design and walnut and sycamore worked really well together. The b'eye maple frame makes it even more special. This should earn you a lifetime 'get out of trouble free' card from your spouse! How long did it take you to 'toss this together'?

Ok may bee 'get out of trouble free' for a month or two. As far as the time about 25 hours. I am slow and I try to do a lot by hand. Most of the stuff is for my family and I would like to see it hang around a bit.
I did write the wife a note and placed it inside the joinery. I wouldn't tell her what was on it and its driving her nuts.

Dave, you better get a vise mounted on that thing before she thimks that is the real coffee table. Looks good!
