Another set of coasters…this time with a matching "coaster" for a pitcher.

Goncalo Alves with Bloodwood and Yellowheart. 4" x 4" and 7" x 7" for the large one.

These are a wedding gift to match a glass pitcher and drinking glass set that my mother-in-law got for a family friend. The pitcher and glasses have flowers painted on them with red, yellow and orange colors. I chose to accent the red and yellow. While these didn't take much mill work…the goncalo was really easy to work with. I am looking forward to building with Goncalo again.

Included my gift card with a picture of an Astronium Graveolens tree…one of the 2 species typically used to yield Goncalo Alves.

Question: Is the large coaster a trivet…or just a large coaster? Are trivets for use only with hot items?

Thanks, have a great week everyone!

Some of my favorite colors. They look good together. I would think a trivet keeps extreme temperatures away from other surfaces, so it could be a trivet! I would just call it a coaster and a darn good one. Nice job.

Very nice and the corners on your grooves are excellent : )
Most trivets that I've seen have not been solid wood , but rather with openings in them and possibly feet to dissipate temperature extremes and protect the surface that they're sitting on. Just my .02 : )
